What is the Web Experience Toolkit (WET)?
A front-end framework used to build accessible, mobile friendly, and multilingual websites. It is open source and led by the Government of Canada (http://wet-boew.github.io/wet-boew/index-en.html).
Project Overview
We have created a WET (version 4.x) suite that includes a theme and accompanying modules. It was created to be modular, light, and easy to upgrade.
This suite includes:
• WET4 theme
• WET4 Menu module (https://www.drupal.org/project/wet4_menu)
• WET4 Slider module (https://www.drupal.org/sandbox/thatpatguy/2479463)
• WET4 Panel Layouts module (https://www.drupal.org/project/wet4_panel_layouts)
• WET4 Site Information module (https://www.drupal.org/sandbox/thatpatguy/2443035)
• WET4 Migration module
Theme Features
This theme is built to WET4’s specs. It includes features such as a fully responsive layout with a mobile menu and a suite of plugins (http://wet-boew.github.io/wet-boew/demos/index-en.html).
It also includes:
- Both an Internet and Intranet theme
- A child theme system for site-specific styling
What is the difference between this project and the WET Distribution?
The Web Experience Toolkit distribution (https://www.drupal.org/project/wetkit) is a content management system. If you prefer an out-of-the-box system, please refer to the distribution.
This suite is meant for site builders who prefer to have a bit more control and provides a simple roadmap for upgrading WET components. By decoupling the features and leveraging Drupal’s module and theming system, we are able to provide quicker theme updates.
Can I install this theme on an existing WET distribution site?
Yes, this theme is compatible with the WET Distribution, allowing existing Drupal installations to be upgrade to the latest version of the Web Experience Toolkit.
